Contrary to popular belief, couples therapy is not simply for couples who have difficulty getting along! Couples sessions are used to enhance communication and strengthen the connection between partners.

mindfulness & Relaxation skills training

Mindfulness and relaxation training by a counsellor/therapist at Rewrite Wellness in Chatham, ON.

 Mindfulness is defined as "the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us." 

It is a practice that can be taught and cultivated, and it is proven to be effective in helping people to cope with anxiety, stress, and depression.

During Mindfulness and Relaxation sessions there is a brief explicit teaching of techniques, and the remainder of the session is spent implementing them, to achieve a sense of calm amidst the "busyness" of our brains and lives.

Some common mindfulness techniques that I utilize:
